Frederick John Ford was born on 18th Decemnber 1894 in Bradfield St George (1st qtr 1895 Thingoe 4a:808) son of Emma FORD. His parentage has not been found. He appears to have
been raised by his uncle and aunt. It is possible that aunt Emma was actually the mother of the two boys, (his mother is recorded as Emma Ford) The birth
certificate has mother as Emma Ford, a domestic servant, at Bradfield St George. Brother Walter William also has no mother's maiden name registered .
1901 census...Aged 6, he was at Elm Green Cottages, Bradfield St Clare with his uncle John FORD [46] (single) farm labourer, aunt Emma, [45] (single); brother Walter William [4]. He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds The battalion was attacking BAYONET TRENCH and LUISENHOF FARM. They went over the top at 2 pm but the whole attack was a disaster mainly due to uncut wire. Every one of the 15 officers became a casualty, 11 of them killed. The battalion suffered over 500 casualties, CWGC recording a total of 104 killed, only 15 of them have a known grave.,
