To the eternal memory of the men of HORSEHEATH who died in the service of their country
The Church of All Saints, Horseheath go BACK to Horseheath home page They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Eleven in the Great War of 1914-1918 and six from 1939-1945
Inside All Saints Church, Horseheath is a wall mounted stone memorial tablet which incorporates a flower urn on either side. This may well have been a
simple tablet above a stone shelf, but had a smaller tablet fixed below the shelf, with the addition of the urns, after the 1939-1945 war. The dedication
starts with the inscribed words, all painted black, "TO THE GLORY OF GOD" in a semicircle above an inscribed wreath. Below that is:-
MEN FROM THIS PARISH WHO
GAVE THEIR LIVE IN THE
GREAT WAR 1914-1919
Then follow the initial, surname and regiment of the fallen, in alphabetical order.
On a small tablet under the shelf is a further dedication and the names of those who fell in 1939-1945.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
