"LACKFORD WAR MEMORIAL"

To the eternal memory of the men of LACKFORD who died in the service of their country
Five from the Great War 1914-1918

Lackford war memorial is a plaque situated inside the Church of St.Nicholas. It was dedicated on 21st December 1919


A white marble plaque on a black marble backing plate on the south wall, facing the congregation. The inscription and names are incised and blackened. The rank, first name, and surname are given, in order of surname.

The inscription reads:-
THIS TABLET
WAS ERECTED BY THE PARISHIONERS
IN HONOURED MEMORY
OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR OTHERS
IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918

LANCE CORPORAL HERBERT HARDING
PRIVATE WILLIAM KIDD
PRIVATE FREDERICK MEEKINS
DRIVER RICHARD SHARPE

Sgt Foreman, L/Cpl Harding and Pte Meekins are commemorated on family monuments in the churchyard as is Private Edwin FROST, 11th Suffolks, who is not named on the memorial.
