CLARKE, Kenneth F.

No.5827592, Private, Kenneth Frederick CLARKE
Aged 22
no information as to medals
8th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment
Died in an Accident on Wednesday, 25th December 1940

Kenneth Frederick Clarke was born in Isleham in 1918 (Newmarket Q4-1918 3B:664) son of Frederick William and Henrietta CLARKE (née BROWN).

He attended Soham Grammar School from 1930 to 1935

In the 1939 register at Coal Yard Drove, Isleham were his father Frederick [2-6-1893] a poultry farmer; his mother Henrietta [6-8-1895] and pensioner James BROWN [3-4-1862]. There are two closed records.

The 8th Suffolks were a training battalion and saw no active service, but sent a great number of drafts abroad. Unless Kenneth's death certificate or his service records (or a friendly relative) appear, we cannot say how he died. His gravestone does however say it was an accident.

He appears to be the Kenneth Frederick Clarke who died in Colchester (Q1-1941 4A:1769) which suggests he was stationed in Colchester.

Kenneth Clarke is buried in Isleham Cemetery - grave 304
