Leslie Thomas Partridge was born on 18th December 1918 (Rochford Q1-1919 4A:874), son of Henry and Henrietta Marion PARTRIDGE (née LITTLEALES), of Wilburton.
He attended Soham Grammar School from 1931 to 1933

His mother died in 1922 in Romford and his father married Gladys BUCKLE in 1929

In the 1939 register he was head assistant at a book stall, living at 1 Victoria Place, Wilburton with his father Henry [15-6-1880] a gents hairdresser; his step-mother Gladys [24-11-1889] and Amy B HARRIS [22-2-1874] widow, and Henrietta HARRIS [3-11-1908] married (Leslie's aunt and her mother in law). There are 2 closed records.

His PoW card places his parents at 1 Victoria Place, Wilburton, mother Gladys. His occupation was clerk.


Leslie was captured on 15th February 1942, the day that Singapore was surrendered to the Japanese.
