THE HISTORY OF THE 1/5TH BATTALION "The Suffolk Regiment" by Capt. A. FAIR, M.C. and Capt. E. D. WOLTON actually has Charles amongst many killed on the 12th. The problem being that so often the nature of the fighting precluded daily 'writing' up and when the fighting died down, that was often the date used. The 12th was the start of an action that came to be known as 'SNIPER DRIVE', which resulted in many casualties

Charles is commemorated on the Helles memorial, Turkey, panels 46 to 47
