William Henry Montague COLE was born in Cavenham on 9th August 1907 (Mildenhall Q3-1907 4A:956) son of Frederick and Mary Ann COLE (née DAVIS).

1911 census...Aged 3, he was in Cavenham with his father Frederick COLE [36] domestic coachman, born Cambridgeshire; his mother Mary [34] born Bristol; brother Victor [7] born Cambridgeshire; sister Dorothy [1] born Suffolk and cousin Alice COLE [10] born Chelsea.



1939 Register ...An electrician's labourer, He was at 21 Cavenham with his father Frederick (7-12-187) a farm worker; his mother Mary A (8-5-18750 2 lodgers and one closed record.

He married Beatrice Violet WATTS in 1940 (Wandsworth Q4-1940 1D:1270)



No. 905 (County of Surrey) Balloon Squadron consisted of 5 Flights of 9 balloons. Amalgamated with 901 Sqn ...Kensington, Clapham He died at Botleys Park War Hospital, Chertsey, Surrey (Surrey North Western Q3-1942 2a:391a). His residence at the time was 18 Quinton Street, Earlsfield, London
