Charles Reginald DAVIES was born in 1887 in Louth (Louth Q1-1888 7A:589), baptised in Holy Trinity, Louth on 22nd January 1888, son of John and Lucy Ann DAVIES (née HEWITT).
He is variously recorded as Charles Reginald or Reginald Charles. The memorial plaque has C.R.DAVIES

1891 census... Aged 4, he was at 3 Temple Terrace, Enginegate, Louth with his father John DAVIES [52] tailor/cutter born North Kilworth, Leics.; his mother Lucy Ann [53] born Leicester; sisters Lucy M [24], Jessie [22] milliner's assistant, Gertrude L [17] dressmaker's assistant, Alice M [12] and Kate [10]; brothers John H [20] tailor's trimmer, George H [19] hosier's assistant, Frederick W [15] scholar and Percy [13] tailor's apprentice. All the children except Alice and Kate (born Lincoln) were born in Louth.

1901 census...Aged 14, Charles was at the East Anglian School, Bury St.Edmunds. Still at 3 Temple Terrace, Louth were his parents and sisters Alice and Kate

1911 census...Aged 24, assisting in his father's business, he was back home at 3 Temple Terrace with his parents; sisters Edith Annie [42] school teacher born Louth, Jessie (mother's help) and Maud Alice (dressmaker).


He enlisted in Louth, as soon as war was declared.
Dying of his wounds at a Base hospital there is no way, without his Army records. of being sure exactly when or where he was wounded. His battalion had attacked at the Hohenzollern redoubt about a week earlier and suffered greatly.

His mother died in June 1918 and his sole legatee was his sister Jessie.
