Samuel MUNNS was born in Fordham on 18th December 1901, (Newmarket Q4-1901 3B:505) baptised in Fordham on 19th January 1902, son of Walter and Eliza
MUNNS(née TURNER).
1911 census...Aged 10, he was at Church Street, Fordham with his parents Walter MUNNS [49] farm labourer; his mother Eliza [47] born West Row; brothers George Willie [22], Francis [14] and Ernest [15] (all farm labourers), William John [12] and Lionel [6] and sisters Annie Eliza [8] and Charlotte [3]. All born in Fordham, except his mother. His mother had lost 3 of her 13 children. He was one of three brothers to die as a result of the Great War. The 3rd Battalion, Suffolks were a Reserve battalion. Samuel died of illness at Rugeley, Staffordshire. With no overseas service,
he was not entitled to any medals.
