Albert Jobson was born in 1886 in Helions Bumpstead (Risbridge Q4-1886 4A:626), son of Samuel and Susan JOBSON (née GREEN).

1891 census...Aged 4, he was at Helions Bumpstead Road, Helions Bumpstead, withhis father Samuel JOBSON [41] farm labourer; his mother Susan [39]; brothers George [20], Harry [19], Charles [16], James [15] all farm labourers, Alfred [10], Fredrick[6], William [3]and Arthur [1]; sisters Alice [13] and Emma [8]. All were born in Helions Bumpstead.

1901 census...Aged 14, a thatcher's labourer, he was at Wiggons Green, Helions Bumpstead with his parents (father now a thatcher); brothers Charles (horse man), James 9foreman in coal yard), Frederick (thatcher's labourer),William (errand boy), Arthur, Samuel [9] and John [4]; sisters Emma and Annie [6]. The new siblings also born in Helions Bumpstead.

1911 census...Aged 24, a farm labourer, he was living near White's Farm, Helions Bumpstead with his parents; brothers Charles (farm labourer), Frederick (thatcher), Arthur, Samuel (junior) and John (all farm labourers; sister Annie. His mother had borne 14 children but lost one.

The pension card has his mother at The Parsonage, Helions Bumpstead.


Stewart enlisted in Woolwich, when resident in Plumstead.
The whereabouts of his unit on 31st August is unknown, there were no major battles in Palestine at that time and 60th Division's location has proved impossible to find, other than that they were in Palestine, preparing for the battle to take Beersheba.
