Ernest Arthur Stock was born in Helions Bumpstead (Risbridge Q4-1896 4A:755) son of Charles and Susan Letitia STOCK (née MIDSON).

1901 census...Aged 4, he was at Pale Green, Helions Bumpstead with his father Charles STOCK [37] dealer in fowls, born Hempstead; his mother Susan [32]; sister Letitia [7] and brother George C [6]. All except his father were born in Helions Bumpstead.

1911 census...Aged 14, he was still at Pale Green with his parents and sister Letitia and brother George (traction engine driver)



He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. He died at No.32 Casualty Clearing Station. Dying of his wounds it is not possible to be sure when or where he was wounded. The battalion had been alternating between Brigade Reserve at Quesnoy and manning trenches at Givenchy

Ernest Stock is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery, grave 4:H:30
