The 5th Queen's Own were part of the 131st (Queen's) Infantry Brigade, fighting in North Africa with the 8th Army at El Alamein. On 13th May the 5th took
part in the successful assault on the village of Pignataro and then went on in the attack on Piedimonte.
George, identified by his discs, was moved from his original burial place (as yet not identified) to Cassino War Cemetery on 23rd March 1945.
