His grave, together with several others, was concentrated into Overloon War Cemetery on 19th May 1947. Overloon is just west of the Meuse River, SW of Goch. The area was the scene of some fierce fighting in October/November 1944 as the Allies prepared to cross the Rhine.

The 1st Suffolks, having been delayed 24 hours by bad weather, left Rijkevoort at 0730 and after aircraft had attacked targets between Overloon and Venray, they slowly moved forward. Despite small arms fire and sniping they reached their objectives by 1730, with the loss of 12 men killed.
