For 2 census they were ROSBROOK and in 1911, when the householder completed the form, not an enumerator, the family name changed to RUSHBROOKE.

1911 census...Aged 25 ? he was a gamekeeper at Bury Road, Gedding with his widowed mother and his niece Mary BULLETT [14] born Bradfield St George. In this census his mother is RUSHBROOKE, Robert is Rusbrooke. There had been 8 siblings but 3 had died.

He married to Ethel May STURMAN [25-10-1888] in 1915 (Paddington Q2-1915 1A:144). The 1911 census has her born in Risby. His widow's address given as 111 Maida Vale, London W.

Local legend has it that he was a gamekeeper in Risby for the Hengrave Estate.

He enlisted in Bury St Edmunds.
Dying of his wounds in Etaples would seem to suggest he was wounded in the early stage of the Battle of the Somme.
