Died of Illness on Thursday, 26th December 1918

Herbert Sharp was born in Stradishall (Risbridge Q4-1886 4A:652), son of William and Hannah Maria SHARP (née MANSFIELD). The only instance of the name being spelled SHARPE is on the war memorial.

1891 census...Aged 5, he was at The Street, Stradishall with his father William SHARP [38], farm labourer; his mother Hannah [37]; brothers Harry [13] a farm labourer, Frederick [7] and Arthur [2]; sister Rose [10]. All were born in Stradishall.

1901 census...Aged 15, farm labourer, he was at The Street, Stradishall with his widower father, now horsekeeper; brother Fred (farm labourer); sister Rose CRACKNELL with her husband James CRACKNELL [23] born Kedington and their son Albert [6 months] born Stradishall. His mother died in 1897

1911 census...Aged 25, single, a chauffeur, he was at Dymocks Lane, Sutton Verney, Warminster, Wiltshire, boarding with Thomas and Rosetta CUNDICK.

In 1919 his sole legatees are recorded as his brothers and sister Rose, his father had died in 1905.
Dying of illness in a hospital it is impossible to be sure, without his service records, exactly what caused his death, perhaps the flu pandemic that was ravaging Europe at the time
