Cyril Arthur Blizzard was born in Troston (Thingoe Q2-1892 4A:768), baptised on 12th May 1892 in Troston, middle son of Arthur (ex 4th Hussars) and Edith BLIZZARD (née BRUNNING).

1901 census...Aged 9, he was at The Sheds, Troston with his father Arthur BLIZZARD [38] shoemaker; his mother Edith Eleanor [34] born Honington; brothers Herbert Hooper [11] and George John [6]. All except his mother were born in Troston.

1911 census...Aged 19, a farm labourer, he was boarding with farm labourer Charles and Anna Turner and their family in Troston.

He married Dorothy Annie MOSS in Great Livermere on 25th December 1914. Their son Jack was born in 1918 and seems to have died before reaching 1 year old.

The pension card has his widow at 25 Troston . She married John W. TRUDGETT n 1921

His brother Herbert had a similar Army medical record, also dying after discharge, but Herbert is not recognised by CWGC. see here


He attested in Bury St.Edmunds on 27th February 1916, mobilised on 27th April 1916. He gave his age as 23 years 11 months, he was 5 feet 7.75 inches (171.8 cm) tall, weighed 133 lbs (60.3 kg) chest 34" to 37" (86.4 to 94 cm) occupation, horsekeeper. He was undergoing training in Yorkshire when he contracted TB. On 22 February 1917 he was posted to agricultural work due to his declining health but his condition worsened (5 months from September 1918 in Brompton Hospital Fulham Road Sanitorium), followed by discharge from the Army on 10th January 1919 and his death at home.





Cyril Blizzard is buried in Troston (St Mary's) Churchyard near the south porch
