John Page was born in West Wickham 14th March 1907 (Linton Q2-1907 3B:453), baptised Albert John in West Wickham on 19th May 1907, son of John Charles and Susannah PAGE (née WOOLLARD).

1911 census...Aged 4, he was in West Wickham with his father John PAGE [30] farm labourer; his mother Susannah [30] born Waterbeach and sister Florence [2]. All except his mother were born in West Wickham. His mother had lost one of her three children.

The 1939 register has his father [1-4-1881] a farm labourer, married, living alone at Burton End, West Wickham.


In common with most men in WW2, medal entitlements are hard to establish. Quite possibly Albert was in the Burma campaign. Even where he died cannot be established, Delhi War Cemetery only being set up in 1951.

Albert Page is buried in Delhi War Cemetery, India, grave 4:H:6
and also commemorated on the Regiment's roll of honour in St Swithuns Church, Hither Green, Lewisham
