Arthur William Charles Beavis was born in West Wratting (Linton Q1-1896 3B:485), son of Arthur and Adelaide Caroline BEAVIS (née WHITTAKER).

1901 census...Aged 5, he was at High Street, West Wratting with his father Arthur BEAVIS [32] a non domestic groom;his mother Adelaide and sister Eva [3]. All were born in West Wratting.

1911 census...Aged 15, a farm labourer, he was at Elm Cottage, West Wratting with his parents (father now a farm labourer); sisters Eva and Violet Rose [7] and brother William Kitchener, twin of Violet, born West Wratting.

The family were still in West Wratting on the pension card


He enlisted in Linton.
The war diary has the Battalion in the St Eloi area, mining and counter mining with occasional casualties. On the 16th ,at 2 am the CO visited all fire trenches. 2:55 am counter mine in P3 exploded and blew in German mine (?) (the coordinate of our own trenches)
Casualties to 12 noon -O Ranks 1 killed, 1 wounded. 12 noon situation normal, slight NE wind. 6 pm, ditto.
