Claude Victor Alcock was born in Wickhambrook (Risbridge Q1-1920 4A:2173) son of Henry and Alice Eva ALCOCK (née ASHMAN).
Likely it was his brother John born in 1929.

In the 1939 register the family were at Brook Farm, Church Road. Father Henry [8-8-1886] cowman on farm; mother Alice [9-12-1893] and incapacitated widowed grandmother Susan ASHMAN [8-7-1981]. There are 2 closed records


At the end of March 1944 the 1st Northants were in the fighting at Imphal, surrounded by the Japanese and relying on air drops for supplies
