Ernest Bradnam was born in Withersfield (Risbridge Q3-1889 4A:625) baptised in St Mary the Virgin, Withersfield on 25th August 1889, son of William and Martha Annie BRADNAM (née CORNELL).


1891 census...Aged 1, he was in Withersfield with his father William BRADNAM [42] farm labourer; his mother Martha [39]; brothers Frederick [10] and Herbert [5]; sister Emma [8]. All were born in Withersfield.

1901 census...Aged 11, he was at Queens Street, Withersfield with his parents (father now stockman); sisters Emma and Blanche [8] born Withersfield; brother Herbert (yard boy on farm).

His father died in 1908.

1911 census...Aged 21, a stockman, he was at Queens Street, Withersfield with his widowed mother; brother Herbert William; sisters Emma Sabina and Blanche


He enlisted in Haverhill.
Since he died of his wounds it is impossible, without his service records, to say where or when he was wounded. He died in No 46 Casualty Clearing Station, at Mendinghem,near Poperinge, Belgium. His medal index card is mis-spelt as Bradman, as it is also on "Soldiers Died" and on the pension card..
