On 1st October, with his sister Alice (born 6th April 1894), he was admitted to Childeric Road School, Lewisham. He left there 27-9-1895, his sister left on 21-2-1896 when they moved to Deptford.

He enlisted in Westminster, when resident in Walthamstow.
He died in the War Hospital in Norwich, cause currently not known. His burial is recorded as Private Memorial in parishioner's grave, so perhaps his widow, Olive, had moved back home when Alfred was hospitalised and was residing in Ampton.
He appears to have been with the 17th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers when arriving in France in 1915.

Alfred Tweed is buried in Ampton Churchyard. Since around 1997 the grave has been unmarked, the private headstone having been moved to the southern boundary.
