Arthur Walter Game was born in 1888 in Cockfield (1st qtr 1888 Cosford 4a:689) son of Walter and Sarah GAME (née HOWARD)

1891 census...Aged 3, he was at Hoe Lane, Cockfield with his father Walter GAME [28] railway labourer born Cockfield; his mother Sarah [26] born Thorpe Morieux; sister Ethel [4 months] born Cockfield.

1901 census...Aged 13, he was at Old Hall Green, Cockfield with his parents (father now plate layer on railway); brothers Willie [7]and Frank [1]; sister Ethel [10]

1911 census...Aged 23, a sawyer's labourer at joinery works, he was at London Road, Stanway with his parents; brother Willie (assistant gardener) and Frank; sister Florence [8] born Cockfield.

No pension card has been found and no connection with Bradfield St.George. Old Hall Green is closer to Bradfield than Cockfield, but that is Bradfield Combust.

He enlisted in Warley, when resident in Romford.
The battalion war dairy says they were at Ponthieu, attending a flamethrower demonstration in the morning and Divine Service in the afternoon. Despite that the CWGC records have three of the battalion killed that day, albeit not one has a known grave and therefore actual date of death is not necessarily known.

Arthur Game is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme pier/face 12D/13B
