Born in 1897 (Qtr 2 Bedford 3b:332), son of Ernest William and Hester Alice ADAMS (née GRAY). Baptised in Bedford All Saints, 2nd May 1897.
1901 census...Aged 4, he was at 51 Hurst Grove South, Bedford, with his father Ernest W ADAMS [38] C of E Clergyman, born Surbiton and his mother Hester A [36] born in India 1911 census...Aged 14 he was at St.John's Vicarage, Bury St.Emunds with hsi parent. Mother's birth now recorded as Coonoor, Madras, India Educated at King Edward VII Grammar School, Bury St.Edmunds, then Peterhuse College, Cambridge. Member of Offce Cadet Battalo. Enlisted as Private in Canbrideshire Regiment before commissiioning in to the Norfolk Regment |
He enlisted in Bury St Edmunds Not having his Army records, his place of and cause of death is not known. The battalion were seldom in the line that month but were badly affected by Influenza. The cemetery was used by several Casualty Clearing Stations. Usually the death of an officer is recorded in the war diary but not in this case. However the report in the Bury Free Press on 29th June 1918 does add to the information. |
