Born on 21st May 1880 (2nd qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:621) son of John and BROAD (née APPLETON)

1891 census...Aged 10, he was at 11 St Andrews Street North, Bury St.Edmunds with his father John BROAD [36] hardwareman born Diss; his mother Belinda [35] born Halstead; brother Robert Charles [8] and sister Helen Belinda [7].the 3 children were born in Bury St.Edmunds

1901 census...Aged 20, a commercial trsveller, he was still at 11 St Andrews Street North with his parents; brother Robert a cycle maker's apprentice and sister Helen.

He married Lilan Elizabeth NUNN on 21st April 1904 in Yaxley, Suffolk. Their daughter Joyce Margaret BROAD was born on 8th February 1905.
He divorced Lilian on 25th August 1909

1911 census...Aged 30, assisting in family business, he was at 9 Orchard Street. Bury St.Edmunds with his parents, father a hardware shopkeeper; sister Helen and his daughter Joyce Mararet BROAD [6]

His mother became the guardian of his daughter Joyce.


The pension card gives the cause of death as acute deliriums. He died in Curragh Militry Hospital, Ireland
