Born on 18th August 1882 in Dover (3rd qtr Dover 2a:966) son of Frederick and Ann CREPIN (née CHAPMAN).
Baptised in St Mary the Virgin, Dover on 8th October 1992.

1891 census...Aged 8, he was at 5 Prospect Place, Buckland, Dover with his father Frederick CREPIN [34] miller's labourer, born Gravesend; his mother Ann [30] born Maydensole, Dover; sisters Ellen A [6] and Florence A [2 months], the children all born in Dover.

1901 census...Aged 18, an ironmonger's apprentice, he was still at 5 Prospect Place with his parents and sister Florence

He married Edith LUNN [3-10-1883] on 26th December 1908, in Christ Church, Battersea, when he was an ironmonger, resident at Dovedale Terrace, Bury St.Edmunds. They lived at 61 Queen's Road, Bury St.Edmunds. Their daughter, Ivy Florence, was born on 2nd September 1912. His widow was later at 5 Propect Place, Buckland, Dover.

1911 census...Aged 27. a n ironmonger's assistant, he was at 61 Queen's Road, Bury St.Edmunds with his wife Edith [27] born Battersea with visitors Hannah LUNN [57] born Taunton and Nellie JOHNSON [3] born Durham.

He married Edith LUNN [3-10-1883] on 26th December 1908, in Christ Church, Battersea, when he was an ironmonger, resident at Dovedale Terrace, Bury St.Edmunds. They lived at 61 Queen's Road, Bury St.Edmunds. Their daughter, Ivy Florence, was born on 2nd September 1912. His widow was later at 5 Propect Place, Buckland, Dover.


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds when resident there.
He attested on 8th Dec 1915, passed to Army Reserve and was mobilised on 17th April 1917 in the Army Service Corps. He gave his address as 61 Queens Road, Bury St Edmnds, married, an ironmonger's traveller, aged 32 years 4 months. He was 5 feet 4 inches tall, chest 35.25 to 37.25 inches. Next of kin, his wife Edith née LUNN.

Admited to No.3 Base Hospital Durban 15/6/1917, discharged 19/7/1917 and embarked on "Empress of Britain", disembarked Bombay 26/7/1917 and embarked that day on HMT Elephanta. Disembarked Basra 1/8/1917. Died of heatstroke at Gurmah Ali on 27/8/1917. Several pages of his record are unreadable.

A two volume Roll of Honour listing all casualties buried and commemorated in Iraq has been produced.
These volumes are on display at the Commission's Head Office in Maidenhead and are available for the public to view.
