2590006, Sergeant, Arthur Henry ERITH
Aged 27
Arthur Henry ERITH was born on 22nd March 1916, (Bury St.Edmunds Q2-1916 4A:1790) son of Henry A and Ethel May ERITH (née HOGG).
In the 1939 register he was a civil servant (Unemployment Exchange) living at 103 Belvedere Road, Ipswich with his father Henry A [19-8-1890], mother Ethel May [13-8-1892] and sister Olive M [15-11-1926] later married as ANDREWS. He married Betty Gwendoline BARRETT (reg in Samford) in 1940 (reg. Samford) and sadly left three children, Derek, John and Margaret. He was at the East Anglian School (now Culford) from September 1926 to May 1932. |
D.Day +1 and presumably the beaches at Arromanches were not the quietest place to be. Considering the date and his unit it is unlikely that any other information will be found. Like many others he would have had a white band painted round his helmet, signifying Beach Organisation. He was initially buried in the region of Juno Beach. |
