Born at St.John's Place on 31st March 1886 (2nd qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:711) son of Frank and Eliza GOSHAWK (née TAYLOR). Baptised at St.John's, Bury St.Edmunds on 6th June 1886

1891 census...Aged 5, he was at 11 St.John's Place, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Francis GOSHAWK [39] railway guard born Bradfield St.Clare; his mother Eliza [35] born Debenham; sisters Edith L [11] born Colchester, Eliza N [7] born Bury St.Edmunds and Caroline M M [3] born Bury St.Edmunds; grandmother, widow Mary TAYLOR [71] born Debenham.

1901 census...Aged 15, a railway telegraphist, he was still at 11 St John's Place with his widowed mother; sisters Nellie, Maud (Caroline) and Rose [9]; brother George.

He married Mabel Ellen GOODWIN [12-6-1892] in 1910

1911 census...Aged 25, a contractor's labourer, he was at 37 Risbygate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his widowed mother (shopkeeper);sister Caroline Maude Mary and brother George Edward (florist's errand boy)

Attempts to find his wife have failed. She is recorded as his widow on the pension card and is on the 1939 register.


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. He died of pneumonia. Sister Caroline was his legatee.
