All were born in Bury St.Edmunds. His father died in 1908 1911 census...Aged 17, a general dealer, he was at 68 Cannon Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his widowed mother ( a washerwoman); brothers Charles (labourer, Frederick (moulder), Arthur , Alfred [9], George [6] and Bertie [2]; sister Lily. His mother had lost 3 of her 12 children. His mother married George SIZER (in 1912?) and was at 12 St Edmunds Place, Bury St.Edmunds |
He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.
War Diary for August 1915...14th A quiet day, nothing of note occurred. A wiring party had 6 rifle grenades thrown at them without any damage being done.
