Born in 1888 (4th qtr Bury St.Edmunds 4a:692) son of Joseph and Jane REACH (née DRURY)

1891 census...Aged 2, he was at 132 Southgate Street, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Joseph REACH [31] carman; his mother Jane [33] born Great Welnetham; sister Alice [10]; brothers Fred [11], Albert [8], William [6] and George [4].All except his mother were born in Bury St.Edmunds.

1901 census...Aged 12, he was at 132 Southgate Street still with his parents; sisters Alice, Mary Ann [9], Ethel [7], Violet [4] and Florence [1]; brothers William, Albert and George.

1911 census...Aged 22, a milkman, he was still at 132 Southgate Street with his parents, brothers George (groom); sisters Violet Louisa Jane [15], Florence May and Ada Christina [7]

His brother Albert was killed in France in 1917 see here


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. He died in No.12 General Hospital, Rouen. Dying in hospital from wounds, and in the absence of his service records, it is impossible to say where or when he was wounded.
