Born in Bardwell in 1893 (4th qtr Thingoe 4a:726) son of David William and Mary Annie Rayner TAYLOR (née GREEN)
1901 census...Aged 7, he was at Grange Farm, Bury St.Edmunds with his father D.W TAYLOR  farmer born Bury St.Edmunds; his mother Mary A  born Stradishall; sister Winifred  born Bardwell.
1911 census...Aged 17, he was still at the Grange, with his parents and sister Winifred.
His father died in September 1917 and mother moved to 76 Guildhalll Street, BACK
He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.
Not having accessed his service records, and with him dying of his wounds, there is no way of telling where or when he was wounded. The 5th Suffolk were involved in the 3rd battle for Gaza at the start of November 1917.
