Frederick William Kendall was born in Birdbrook (Risbridge Q3-1888 4A:628) son of Harry and Louisa Adelaide KENDALL (née HANNIBAL).

1891 census...Aged 2, he was in Birdbrook with his father Harry KENDALL [29] house painter born Sible Hedingham; his mother Louisa A [33] born Marylebone, London ; brothers Alfred H [6] and Walter Robert [4]; sister Ada Mary [3 months]. All the children were born in Birdbrook.

1901 census...Aged 12, an errand boy, he was at New England Cottage with his parents; brothers Alfred (house painter), Walter (builder's carter), Herbert H [7]and Edward F [5] both born Birdbrook; sister Ada M.

He married Isabel WHITE (Marylebone Q1-1911). It may be that they had two sons, Frederick W [1912] and Charles N [1913] ?

1911 census...Aged 24, a billiard marker, he was at 22 Courtnell Street, Paddington, London with his wife Isabella [26] born Scarborough, Yorkshire. His parents were at Baythorne End with his brother Edward Frank (carman).


He enlisted in Colchester.
In the absence of his Army service record and being in the Machine Gun Corps before they were formed into Battalions, it is impossible to say exactly where he was killed .It was the first day of the 3rd battle of Ypres, usually known as Passchendaele.
