Ernest was originally buried in A:1:16 Herrenhausen Gardens. This cemetery contained several British, all who died after the end of the war. They were concentrated in Hanover War Cemetery in January 1947. The circumstances of his death are not known, whether it was illness or accident. For some reason they were not taken to Hanover Military cemetery which holds over 3000 post war casualties. This maybe due to the fact their deaths came within the limits for CWGC recognition and those in the Hanover Military cemetery died later.
