George James Grimwood was born in 1892 in Whepstead (3rd qtr 1892 Thingoe 4a:737) son of Harry and Alice Mary Ann GRIMWOOD (née SPARROW)

1901 census...Aged 8, he was at Bury Road, Whepstead with his widower father Harry GRIMWOOD [31] postman and his sister Edith R [13]. All were born in Whepstead. His mother had died in 1900.
His father married Welnetham born Emily Maud BRUCE in 1902.

1911 census...Aged 18, an apprentice wheelwright, he was at Brockley Road, Whepstead with his fsther and stepmother; half sisters Daisy Clara [8], Emily Augusta [6] and Maud Mary [3 months]. All three girls were born in Whepstead.

No connection with Chedburgh has been found, perhaps he was employed there ?



He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. and was killed towards the end of the 3rd Battle for Gaza
