George William Bailey was born in 1898 in Horringer (2nd qtr 1896 Thingoe 4a:791) son of George and Jessie BAILEY(née WHITE). His mother died in 1898

1901 census...Aged 5, with his twin sister Rena Maria, he was at Martin's Green, Chevington with his widower father George BAILEY, domestic stableman b orn Chevington; sisters Flora Adelaide [17] and Hilda Jessie [15] both born Chvington; brother Cecil Douglas [9] born Horringer.

1911 census...Aged 15, he was still at Martin's Green with his father, twin Rena, brother in law Thomas LAST [25] wood sawyer born Ickworth and George's sister Hilda LAST.

On the pension card his father was at Ickworth Park, Bury St.Edmunds.



He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.
The 9th Suffolks had been in trenches from Les Beoufs to Morval but on 30th left the trenches and were in dugouts in the Carnoy Craters area. 4 men were killed that day, 3 have have no known grave.
