Hezekiah Smith was born in Chevington (1st qtr 1897 Thingoe 4a:817) son of John Riley and Susannah SMITH (née CLARKE)

1901 census...Aged 4, he was at Chedburgh Hall, house of the MARSH brothers, farmers, with his father John SMITH [42] horsekeeper; his mother Susannah [45] domestic servant, both born Chevington

1911 census...Aged 14, a telegraph messenger, he was at Chevington Lodge with his parents, father a waggoner on farm. His mother had lost one of her two children.

On the pension card his parents were in Hargrave.



He enlisted in Hargrave. He died from enteric fever in Egypt.
