Cedric Drummond Bartlett born in Manchester (4th qtr 1887 Chorlton 8c:684) son of John Drummond and Ivy Mary BARTLETT (née DAVIDSON)

1891 census...Aged 3, he was at 13 Brook Road, Withington, Manchester with his father John D. Bartlett [50], East india merchant born Scotland; his mother Ivy M. [44] born Carlisle; brothers Hugh G. [12] and Roger G. [6]; sister Ivy M.G. [11]. All the children were born in Manchester.

1901 census...Aged 13, he was at 10 Wellington Road, Withington with his parents; sister Ivy; brothers Hugh and Roger.

The electoral roll has him in 1910 with sole use of a single bedroom at 10 Wellington Road, Withington, paying his father 10 shillings per week rent.

1911 census...Not found in this census. His parents were at Pym Gate, Gatley, Cheshire with his sisters Dorothy Jean Isabel [36] and Ivy Mary Gladstone [31]; cousin Janet Rutherford McKIE (visiting). His mother had lost one of her seven children. McKIE [21]
Probate gives him as of Cockfield, Suffolk, dying at 18 Grosvenor Crescent, Edinburgh. His death certificate has him as Transport Officer, 2nd Lt. 3rd (Reserve) Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers, usual residence Lower Burma Road (Edinburgh), cause of death was lobar pneumonia.

Nothing yet found to link him with Cockfield other than the probate notice, perhaps related to the Rector of Hessett. His cousin Janet Rutherford McKIE died in Horringer in 1988, so there are some links to the area.

The 3rd (Reserve) Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers was a home service Battalion, employed with training and providing fresh troops for the other battalions. Based in Dumfries, they moved to Edinburgh in April 1915.
In WW1, the 1914, the 1914-1915 Star, the British War medal and the Victory medal were only awarded to those who served overseas.
