George William BRUTY was born in 1879 (2nd qtr 1879 Risbridge Union 4a:523), the son of George and Hannah BRUTY(née SMITH )

1881 census...Aged 2, he was at Cavendish Road, Clare with his father George BRUTY [32] farm labourer; his mother Hannah [26]; brothers Charles [6] and Walter [4]. All recorded as born in Clare

1891 census...Aged 12, he was at Common Street with his parents (mother now recorded as born in Chilton); brothers Charles, Walter, Freddie [4]; sisters Mary [9], Bessie [7] and Annie [2].


He died of disease at Vet River. His Queens South Africa medal carries the clasps for Cape Colony and Orange Free State
