The Suffolk Roll of Honour has listed, under Culford, a Private William P Greenfield, 2nd/1st Hunts Cyclist Bn, the man here enlisted in Bury St Edmunds and was earlier
in the Hunts Cyclists and No.24203, 10th Suffolks and was from Lincolnshire. The Suffolk Roll of Honour is the only place where there is a connection with Culford at present, the 2/1st Hunts Cyclists were based in Lincolnshire as a second line unit. William Percy Greenfield was born in 1893 (Caistor (Lincs) Q2-1893 7A:679), son of William and Sarah Elizabeth GREENFIELD (née VINSON). 1901 census...Aged 7, he was at 6 Littlefield Lane, Grimsby with his father William GREENFIELD [54] timber merchant's cashier, born Burnham; his mother Sarah Elizabeth [46] born Hull; sisters Mabel [23] and Ethel [20] born Cleethorps, Lilian [18], Elsie [15] and Kate all born Grimsby. 1911 census...Aged 17, he was still at 6 Littlefield Lane, Grimsby, a pupil forester, living with his widower father and sisters Mabel, Ethel, Lilian, Elise and Kate.
No pension card has been found, possibly as his father seems to have died in 1921

He enlisted in Bury St Edmunds. The 34th Battalion, London Regiment, like so many of the Regiment, had no specific cap badge for the regiment, using the
King's Royal Rifle Corps badge.
His service record has not been found so it can not be said where or when he was wounded. He died at No.55 General Hospital at Wimille on the French coast near Boulogne.
