1891 census...Family not found in this census 1901 census...Aged 12, he was "near the Green" Depden with his father Thomas ROLFE [36] horseman on farm; his mother Annie [32]; brothers Joseph [9], John [6] and Robert [10 months]; sister Nelly [2]. All were born in Depden. 1911 census...Aged 22, farm labourer, he was at Depden Green with his parents; brothers John (farm labourer) and Robert; sisters Nellie, Ethel [7] and Alice [1]; uncle Herbert ROLFE [47] On the pension card his parents were at Depden Green. |
He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds.
All the war diary for 10th October has to say is "In Trenches, draft of 10 OR arrived..casualties 7 OR killed 16 wounded." The location is not recorded, but they had just previously bivouacked in Bernafay Wood
