Ashfield Willie Arbon was born on 19th January 1891 in Elveden (Mildenhall Q1-1891 4A:778), son of William and Eliza Maria ARBON (née NEALE).

1891 census...Aged 2 months, he was at John O'Groats, West Stow with his father William [28] farm labourer born Flempton; his mother Maria [20] born Elveden and brother Harry [1] born Elveden.

On May 5th 1896 he was admitted to Elveden Voluntary Aided School.

1901 census...Aged 10, he was at Old Elveden with his father William ARBON [39] farm labourer, born Flempton; his mother Maria [32] born Elveden; brother Harry [11] born in Elveden; sister Anne [8] born North Stow and sister Maud [5] and brother Frederick [3] both born Elveden.

1911 census...Aged 21, farm labourer, he was at 94 Old Elveden with his parents; brother Harry (farm labourer) and George and sister Maud; sisters Violet [9], Emma [7], Jane [4] and Beatrice [1] and brother John [1 month]. All the new siblings were born in Elveden.

The family address was still Old Elveden on the pension card, but they later moved to the "School House", Wangford, Brandon.

He enlisted in Bury St Edmunds.
His Army service records have not been found so there is no way of being sure where or when he was wounded, or if he died from the influenza pandemic that was raging at the time. He died at No.3 Australian Casualty Clearing Station which at the time was stationed near Dadizele ( before Dadizele British Cemtery was started ).

William Arbon is buried in Kezelberg Military Cemetery, grave 1:A:25
