It appears that Harold John Gill was born in 1923 (3rd qtr 1923 KINGSTON 2a:748) son of H and Rose Ellen GILL (née GILL).So far identifying his father has failed.

Nothing has been found in the Bury Free Press and little has been found on line anywhere. The 2nd Beds and Herts were part of 38th (Irish Brigade) in Italy
in May 1944. The war diary gives no place names, but they suffered many casualties on 16th. CWGC records show 32 killed, all now buried in Cassino
