1891 census...Aged 9, he was at 12 Conyers Green, Great Barton with his father Daniel PAWSEY [44], domestic gardener born Bury St.Edmunds; his mother Susan [38] born Icklingham; brothers Charles H [7] and William G [4]. All three brothers were born in Great Barton. 1901 census...Aged 19, a domestic footman, he was at Nonsuch Park, Cuddington, Surrey. His parents were in Conyers Green 1911 census...Not found in this census. His parents and sister Ellen and Margaret were at Conyers Greem Great Barton. On the pension card his mother was at The Green, Great Barton. |

He enlisted in London. From the contents of his officer's letter, it would appear that Robert's grave was lost in later fighting
Attesting on 11th November 1915, he was mobilised into the 3rd London Regiment (60225) on 31st March 1916. Giving his age as 34 years 205 days, a butler, resident at 30 Lowndes Square, Knightsbridge. He was 5 feet 8 inches tall, chest 35 to 37 inches, weigher 144 lbs, next of kin his mother Susan of The Green, Great Barton. He was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps on 18th October 1916 and posted to the BEF on 8th January 1917. His personal belongings were to be sent to Miss Ellen Pawsey at 32 Palace Grove, Bromley,Kent. Robert's death was the only one in his company that day.
