George Bidwell was born in Hessett (4th qtr 1879 Stow 4a:608) son of Isaac and Sarah BIDWELL (née OSBORNE)

1881 census...Aged 1, he was at east side of The Street, Hessett with his father Isaac BIDWELL [38] woodman born Thelnetham; his mother Sarah [46] born Denham; brother William H [17] woodman born Barrow, Walter [14], Edward [11], Thomas [9], James [4] and Isaac [3] all born in Hessett

1891 census...Aged 11, he was still at The Street, Hessett with his parents, brothers Thomas, James, Isaac (all woodmen)

He married Annie DEBENHAM [4-9-1877] in 1899

1901 census...Aged 21, hurdle maker, he was at Eldo Cottages, Rougham with his wife Annie, [23] born Bury St.Edmunds. His parents were still in Hessett

1911 census...Aged 31, a hurdle maker, he was at Clay Hall, Great Saxham with is wife Annie, sons James Edward [9], Isaac [10-3-1904] and Charles [8-7-1907]; daughter Daisy [1]. All the children recorded as born Bury St.Edmunds. Annie had lost one of her 5 children. (not traced)

On the pension card his widow was at 50 Whiting Street, Bury St.Edmunds. Daughter Daisy had died in 1913





He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds
He died in Western General Hospital, Neath, Glamorgan, from an appendix abcess and pneumonia contracted on active service
