The Church of St. Thomas a Becket, Great Welnetham..... photo www.suffolkchurches.co.uk go BACK to Great Welnetham home page They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Thirteen in the Great War of 1914-1918 and four in 1939-1945
Inside the Church of St. Thomas a Becket in Great Welnetham, hanging on the wall is a glazed, hand written roll of honour commemorating those
from the village who fell in the two World Wars
There is also the East window, a stained window, designed by Eleanor Brickdale and made by Burlison and Grylis. A four light window, the four lights
depict (from the left)David and Goliath, St. George, St.Nicholas and Joan of Arc. Each light has at the bottom a scene from their lives.
There is a dedication under these are, on the left and right, panes with the dedication.
At the top of the window is an image of the head of Christ bedecked with vines.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.
