Percy David Plumb was born in Rougham? on 24th June 1909 (3rd qtr 1909 Bury St. Edmunds 4a:910), son of George William and Elizabeth PLUMB (née PLUME).

1911 census...Aged 2, he was at Sicklesmere/Gt Welnetham with his father George PLUMB [39] estate carpenter; his mother Elizabeth [33]; sister Violet [6] and brother Hubert [4]. All born Great Welnetham except Percy recorded just as Suffolk. His father died in 1923

In the 1939 register, a telecomms linesman, he was at 4 Council Houses, Sicklesmere, with his widowed mother Elizabeth [6-2-1878]; brothers Robert J 13-10-1910 (horseman on farm) and Reginald W [29-9-1914] motor mechanic's fitter. His date of birth is shown as 24th June 1908 but GRO has 1909, and brother Robert shown as 1910 but GRO has 1911 (father's Army record shows -James Robert-13-10-1911).



The 4th Seaforths were 110 miles away from Dunkirk on 6th June, fighting at Ramburelles, 12 miles SW of Abbeville.
