Reginald Alfred Welton was born on 30th October 1907 in Bury St.Edmunds (4th qtr 1907 Bury St.Edmunds 4a:914), son of Frank Ernest George and Jessie WELTON (née GODDARD).

1911 census...Aged 3, he was at The Butts, Bury St.Edmunds with his father Ernest WELTON [28] baker; his mother Jessie [25] born Chedburgh; sister Hilda [5], brother Leslie [4] and sister Dorothy [1]. All except his mother were born in Bury St.Edmunds. His mother died in 1920

He married Ethel May BASS in 1930.

In the 1939 register he was a milk roundsman, living at Court Farm Cottage, Nowton with is wife Ethel M [3-11-1910] and their son Gerald [30-4-1934] and daughter Marjorie Joyce Agnes [25-6-1939] later TRICKER. There were 2 other children, Frank and Kathleen.
His father, baker, a widower, was at Whiting Street, Bury St.Edmunds in 1939.


He would have been with "Blade Force" when they advanced eastwards in Tunisia towards Tunis but were halted by the Germans, at that time having air superiority..
