Edward Pryke Fyson was born on 7th February 1888 in Ashley(4th qtr 1888 Newmarket 3b:535) son of Edward and Ann Bertha FYSON (née MUMFORD). His father was first married to Sarah Maria BOBY, who died in 1882. He then married Ann Bertha MUMFORD in 1884

1891 census...Aged 3, he was at High Road, Ashley with his father Edward FYSON [53] farmer born Higham; his mother Ann Bertha [41] born Creeting; half-sisters Edith B [16], Constance B [14], Ida M b [13] and Evelyn B [12] all born in Ashey, sister Frances A [6] born in Risby.

1901 census...Aged 13, he was at Hawstead Lodge with his parents and sister Frances.

1911 census...When he went to Canada has yet to be found. His father died in 1910, his mother in 1905



He enlisted in Valcartier on 23rd September 1914, giving his date of birth, an accountant born Newmarket. Next of kin his sister Mrs A Mumford of The Clamp, Stowmarket. He was 5 feet 8 inches tall, chest 35 to 38 inches, blue eyes, light brown hair, Church of England.
He sailed from Quebec per SS Andania on 7th October 1914. He had visits to hospital early 1915 with a whitlow
He was killed in the support trenches near Ypres and was buried on the canal bank near the bridge about 100 yards from the dressing station at 28.I.1.b.40.10. Since he is now named on the Menin Gate, this grave must have been lost in later fighting.
