Alfred William Benningfield was born in Beck Row (2nd qtr 1893 Mildenhall 4a:787) son of Arthur and Elizabeth BENNINGFIELD (née FITCHES).
Some records have him as Benningfield, other records have Beningfield. It is Benningfield with G.R.O. birth registration.

1901 census...Aged 8, he was "opposite the church" Fornham St.Martin with his father Arthur BENNINGFIELD [36] horseman on farm born Beck Row; his mother Elizabeth [37] born Barton Mills; sister Lottie [9] born Beck Row, Lily [2] born Saxham and Adeline [11 months] born Flempton; brothers Herbert [7] born Lackford and Walter [4] born Saxham.

1911 census...Aged 18, a farm labourer, he was at Blackthorpe, Rougham with his parents; sisters Lottie, Lily, Adeline and May [9] born Fornham St.Martin; brothers Herbert and Walter (both farm labourers), Erle (sic) [7] born Lackford and Fred [2] born Rougham.

He married Edith M BULLETT in 4th qtr 1916.

On the pension card his widow Edith M Beningfield [24-6-1893] was at Hessett Heath with his illegitimate daughter Sarah Mary Ann BULLETT [19-11-1910]

His brother in law Bertram Cocksedge was killed in 1918, their wives were the sisters Edith and Susan Bullett see here


He enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. He died in 12th General Hospital in Rouen from Bronchopneumonia.
Different military records have him in different Regiments, only agreeing on the Labour Corps at the time of his death
