Oliver Bullman was born in Ixworth(1st qtr 1889 Thingoe 4a:704), son of William and Mary Ann BULLMAN (née RICHARDSON).

1891 census...Aged 2, he was at Commister Lane,Ixworth with his father William BULLMAN [38] market gardener born Soham; his mother Mary Ann [33] born Polstead; brothers Arthur John [7] and Maurice W [3]; sister Florence A [11 months]. All the children were born in Ixworth.

1901 census...Aged 12, he was at High Street, Ixworth with his parents (mother now recorded as born Assington); brothers Maurice (under gardener), and Oscar [7]; sisters Florence and Amy A[9].

1911 census...Aged 22, an under gardener, he was still at High Street, Ixworth with his parents and brother Oscar. Mother recorded as born in Assington. She had lost 1 of her 7 children.

He married Agnes Whittingdale [8-7-1884] of East Harling. Their son William Oliver BULLMAN was born on 21st July 1915 in East Harling, when Oliver was in the 3rd Bn, Norfolk Regt. Their son Joseph Oliver Richardson BULLMAN . Agnes already had a daughter, Beatrice Olive May RICHARDSON born 28-5-1910. His widow's address was Market Place, East Harling before she moved to School Yard, East Harling.


He enlisted in Norwich.
On 9th the battalion had taken part in the attack on Langemark-Poelcapelle and on 10th they had been relieved by the Household Battalion and were occupying shellholes in the support line to the west of Langemark and suffering from shell fire.




Not this actual operation, but indicative of the "soft going" in Flanders in October 1917



Oliver Bullman is buried in Cement House Cemetery, Langemarke, Belgium 9:E:19
