Frederick Dunnett was born in 1919 (3rd qtr 1919 Risbridge 4a:1365), son of William and Bertha Amy DUNNETT (née NORDEN).
Exactly where he was born has not been found, with father being a policeman the family moved around frequently. They were in Ixworth in 1914, Cowlinge in 1916 and Woolpit in 1917. By 1943 his father was Inspector, living at Ixworth



The Batttalion travelled 2,000 miles by motorised transport, from Syria to Tunisia and were flung into the "Battle of the Horseshoe" on the Mareth Line. The night assault on 16th May cost them 16 of their 26 officers killed and 255 casualties amongst the Other Ranks (76 of them killed).



He had a battlefield burial and was moved to Enfidaville in January 1944
